Minister Kumbaro Celebrates Heritage with Locals and Tourists

“The Gjirokastra Wedding” was a show of traditional local rituals.
It presented a valuable part of our national identity to local and foreign tourists.

Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, shared photos of the event on social media.
The event took place in the stone city of Gjirokastra.
It displayed elements and rituals of the traditional Gjirokastra wedding.

Kumbaro described “The Gjirokastra Wedding” as a cultural pride of the city.
“This year too, it was a spectacle of rituals, customs, and emotions,” she said.
“It left a good impression on residents, tourists, and all the curious visitors who joined this gem of our cultural heritage.”

The event aims to keep this valuable part of national identity alive.
It also introduces it to the many tourists who visit Gjirokastra.

“The Gjirokastra Wedding” brings these rituals back to life.
It supports the continuous growth of tourism in the city.

Folk artists from Gjirokastra and Libohova took part.
They brought life and energy to the show.

Some of the most famous wedding customs include:
– the baklava-making ritual
– eyebrow-shaping day
– dough night
– henna ceremony
– bride’s day
– barber’s ritual
– and dressing the groom.

These traditions are slowly disappearing year by year.
This event helps protect and revive them.
