The Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage Shkodër has published a photo album with moments from the preparations of the representative group of the Shkodër District, which will be part of the National Folk Festival, Gjirokastër 2023.
Shkodra, Puka, Fushë-Arrësi, Malësia e Madhe and Dukagjini will join the parade of motifs, rhythms, colors, songs, dances and rituals that will unfold in the stone city of Gjirokastra.
The National Folk Festival will take place this year, in the month of June.
The first National Folklore Festival of Gjirokastra was held in 1968. Since then, the festival has been held every five years.
The 70s can also be considered the peak of participation in this festival, where there were more than 1 thousand selected participants.
The Gjirokastra Festival was conceived in the form of a folklore competition, where until the festival of 1988, prizes were given to the best groups, while in its last editions the prizes would be awarded to the bearers and interpreters of folklore.
