National Historical Museum Highlights Skanderbeg’s Enduring Impact

The National Historical Museum brought the figure of the National Hero, Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg, closer to the public on Tuesday. The event was part of a new series of talks that the museum plans to continue in the future.

Historian Pëllumb Xhufi shared historical data. He argued that Skanderbeg was more than a local leader. He played a key role in European politics during the 15th century. “His diplomacy and ties with the Vatican and the Kingdom of Naples show his European vision,” Xhufi said.

From a cultural and musical perspective, researcher Zhani Ciko spoke about Skanderbeg’s artistic influence. He pointed out that “hymns, operas, and musical works inspired by Skanderbeg prove that his figure inspired not just historians, but also artists through the centuries.”

Military expert Prof. As. Dr. Bernard Zotaj focused on Skanderbeg’s military strategy. He called him a genius of warfare. Zotaj highlighted his smart use of terrain, tactical movements, and effective distribution of a small army. These techniques, he said, are still studied in military academies today.
