Director of the National Library of Albania, Piro Misha, participated in the jubilee celebrations and scientific conference commemorating the 100th anniversary of the passing of the eminent Arbëresh scholar and journalist Anselmo Lorecchio.

The official events took place in the Arbëresh municipality of Puhëri (Pallagorio), Lorecchio’s birthplace, in the presence of Albanian personalities from Albania, Kosova, North Macedonia, Montenegro, as well as high Italian authorities.

President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, and the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, also attended the ceremony.

In this context, a scientific conference was organized, which was greeted by Piro Misha and the representative of the Academy of Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Marenglen Kasmi.

Researchers from Albania, Calabria, and Italy presented papers, among them Dr. Etleva Domi delivered the presentation “The Journey of the Activity of the Renowned Anselmo Lorecchio and the Arbëresh Magazine ‘La Nazione Albanese'”.

As part of this activity, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Library of Albania and the University Foundation “Francesco Solano” for the publication in digital and print formats of the magazine “La Nazione Albanese”, directed by the late A. Lorecchio, a magazine that played a fundamental role in fostering national sentiment and spreading ideas for the liberation and independence of the Albanian nation.
