Comedy “The Neighbors” staged at “Zihni Sako” Theatre in Gjirokastër

Tirana, October 6 – Last night, the “Zihni Sako” Theatre in Gjirokastër filled with laughter and applause as the audience enjoyed the comedy “The Neighbors,” written and directed by Florjan Binaj. This marked the first performance of the play outside Tirana.
“This is the first time we bring it outside Tirana. The actors have had time to fully embody their characters and adapt the performance to each city. ‘The Neighbors’ portrays the efforts of today’s generation to get rich quickly, to break certain rules, and to trade social and family values in pursuit of fast wealth,” said director Florjan Binaj.
The audience followed the actors’ lively performance closely. Comic situations sparked emotions and enjoyment for both the spectators and the cast.
“The capital’s stage is different, but what I felt here was very positive energy,” said actor Erni Tufa.
“I had a special emotion performing in Gjirokastër today, and I am deeply thankful,” added actor Lindar Kaja.
The comedy’s plot draws from everyday life. It highlights, with irony and humour, both the values and contradictions of today’s Albanian society. Through familiar characters and lively, humorous scenes, “The Neighbors” reflects life in our neighbourhoods and the interactions among residents.
