New exhibition at the “Marubi” museum in Shkodra

The “Marubi” National Museum of Photography, in Shkodra, is preparing for the opening of the personal exhibition of photographers Safet and Gjylzade Dokle, curated by Lek M. Gjeloshi.

This is a new rich fund that has recently joined the “Marubi” archive.

The photographic activity of the spouses Safet and Gjylzade Dokle took place in Borje of the Kuksi District and beyond, spanning a 40-year period, from the 30s to the early 70s.

Their photo collection documents the political history, social life, various rituals and traditional aspects of northeastern Albania at that time.

This collection, which consists of about 20,000 negatives, is the largest donated after the 90s to the archive of the National Museum of Photography “Marubi”.

The exhibition builds the first narrative on it, where a special attention is dedicated to the ethnographic dimension and the esotericism that it already offers as an image flow.
