“Notte Morricone” Brings Modern Dance and Legendary Film Music to Tirana Stage

The show “Notte Morricone” blended modern dance with the music of legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone.
It premiered today at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana, as part of the International Dance Festival (IDFT).

Produced by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza “Aterballetto”, the performance turned Morricone’s sounds into movement.
Morricone, the genius behind over 500 film soundtracks, shaped the soul of cinema through his music.
Now, his legacy reached Albanian audiences in new artistic dimensions.

The Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau, one of Europe’s most visionary dance creators, directed the show.
He built a universe where movement, light, music, and Italian cinematic memory merge into a landscape of emotions.

Sixteen dancers performed an immersive piece that fused dance, visual arts, and film influences.
“Notte Morricone” drew inspiration from the composer’s vast legacy—winner of two Oscars, three Grammys, three Golden Globes, six BAFTAs, ten David di Donatello Awards, eleven Nastri d’Argento Awards, two European Film Awards, and a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
The performance became a poetic journey of the body.

The story unfolds during the twilight of an ordinary night in a creator’s life.
Alone and lost among his papers, he writes notes and imagines melodies for films yet to exist.
Visitors fill the night—memories, dreams, and fragments of life.
Among them appears the boy who once wanted to be a doctor, who knew he couldn’t play the trumpet like Chet Baker, but whom destiny turned into an immortal icon.
