Përmet Opens “Nona” Festival, Honoring Albanian Grandmothers

The “Nona” festival opened tonight in the city of roses, Përmet.
Hundreds of residents and local and foreign tourists filled the main square.
This is the fifth edition of the three-day festival. It turns Përmet into a warm, grandmother-style gathering.
The day began with visits to the homes of Përmet grandmothers. In the afternoon, the fair “From Grandmothers’ Hands” showcased traditional dishes.
In the evening, well-known artists performed. The lineup included Evgjeni Çulli, Mikel & Ervis Rrapaj, Luljeta Ilia, Çiljeta Xhilaga, Anxhela Peristeri, G Bani, and actress Eva Alikaj.
The festival aims to create dialogue between generations. It seeks to bridge the growing gap between the elderly and the youth in urban life.
Events continue on August 9 and 10 with more cultural activities.
