PM Rama: Strategic Cooperation with UAE and Italy to Supply Europe with Green Energy

TIRANA, January 14 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania aims to achieve full energy sovereignty based entirely on renewable sources and then supply Europe.
At the Sustainable Development Week Summit in Abu Dhabi, hosted by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Rama announced a strategic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and Italy to establish a trilateral energy partnership.
He explained that green energy produced in Albania will serve the European market through collaboration with international partners. Rama said the plan includes reaching a 3-gigawatt capacity via a cable link with Italy to supply the EU with renewable energy alongside Arab partners.
Rama highlighted that Albania currently produces 100% of its energy from renewables without using fossil fuels, ranking among the most advanced countries in the green energy transition. He added that significant investments in solar and wind energy over the past decade aim to create a balanced energy portfolio and eliminate reliance on imports.
