Puppet Theater Prepares Premiere of “The Wrath of the Letters”

The Puppet Theater troupe held its final rehearsals today for “The Wrath of the Letters.” The play will be staged this weekend, 40 years after its first premiere.
The comedy mixes fantasy with education. It is designed for children who have just started school. “The play shows a ‘language battle,’ where the letters of the Alphabet come to life. They teach children how important it is to speak clearly and correctly,” said Melsi Qirici, director of the Puppet Theater.
The story follows Olsi and Ini. The two boys speak carelessly and use abbreviations. They brag about inventing a “modern” Albanian. This angers the letters. One by one, the letters leave the dictionary. The boys face problems and finally change their ways.
Playwright Endri Çela adapted the original text by Minerva Kumi. He gave it a fresh version for today’s audience. Çela also directs the show. Actors Florian Kokona, Ilia Kaçi, Esmeralda Kame, Ermonela Alikaj, Erdit Asllanaj, Jorida Meta, and Madi Selimi perform the roles.
The show is suitable for children over five. The Friday premiere will be by invitation only. Guests will include visually impaired audiences, EU representatives, and UNOPS officials.
