RAI 3 Launches Arbëresh Language Programming in Calabria

RAI 3 will begin airing radio and television programs in the Arbëresh language across the Calabria region. The initiative follows a new agreement signed between the Italian Prime Minister’s Office and RAI.
Production has already started on programs that aim to promote Arbëresh culture, language, and identity. The broadcasts directly support both Law 482/1999 and the National Service Contract, which guarantee the protection of Italy’s historical linguistic minorities.
RAI will launch the new Arbëresh-language programming on September 15, with broadcasts scheduled to run for 13 months.
The network will announce detailed programming schedules for radio and television during a dedicated press conference at the RAI headquarters in Cosenza.
According to Calabrian media, one of the key programs will focus on teaching the Arbëresh language, helping preserve this centuries-old heritage for future generations.
