Rama: Albania Will Join the EU by 2030, a Country We Will All Be Proud Of

Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama defended the planned investment in Zvërnec during celebrations marking the Socialist Party’s 35th anniversary in Tirana.

He said the project has sparked strong reactions because Albania is entering a highly competitive tourism market. According to Rama, the country is now challenging destinations that have dominated the sector for years.

He stressed that Albania faces a clear choice. The country can either stay behind its regional competitors or move forward and compete at the same level.

Furthermore, Rama argued that neighboring countries already attract wealthier tourists and benefit from their spending. Therefore, he said Albania must aim higher and become a major attraction for visitors from the Middle East.

At the same time, he highlighted interest from a company behind one of the world’s most famous hotels in Dubai. Rama noted that the company is considering its first European investment in Zvërnec. He questioned calls to reject the project and said Albania should not fear growth, development, or prosperity.

In addition, Rama defended the Socialist Party’s role in leading the country through challenges. He said success brings criticism and resistance, but the party remains strong and determined.

Looking ahead, Rama expressed confidence in Albania’s future. He declared that Albania will join the European Union by 2030. Moreover, he said the country will become a place that all Albanians can be proud of.

Finally, Rama called on citizens to stay ambitious, dream big, take risks, and believe in the future. He said the government was elected to lead the country forward and would continue to do so.
