Rama: Government Will Meet All Obligations to Citizens

Prime Minister Edi Rama today pledged full support for citizens affected by flooding. He stressed that the government will meet every obligation, both for homes and for livestock.
First, Rama recalled that when the current government took office, it inherited large debts from past floods. Many of these were in the Shkodra area. He said the government cleared these debts one by one.
Meanwhile, he underlined that stronger protective infrastructure has reduced flood damage. This progress came despite worsening climate challenges.
“When we came to government, we inherited a mountain of debts, including unpaid flood obligations in Shkodra. We settled them all. Since then, we have not created new debts of this kind. On the contrary, we have acted with human, state, and political dignity,” Rama said.
Moreover, he noted that the government has also faced other major crises. These include wildfires, the pandemic, and the earthquake. As a result, the country emerged stronger and better prepared for future challenges.
Next, Rama reassured those affected by the latest floods. He said the state will stand by them with the same responsibility and dignity.
“Today, I assure the affected citizens that we will fulfill every obligation, whether for housing or for livestock,” he added.
During the meeting of the Interministerial Committee for Civil Emergencies, Rama emphasized continued action. The meeting addressed the situation caused by recent heavy rainfall.
He said intensive work and full mobilization will continue across the country. All state structures and municipalities remain engaged, around the clock, until the situation improves.
Finally, Rama called on MPs of the governing majority to stay close to citizens. He urged them to remain present not only during the emergency, but also after it passes.
“Be with the people, for the people, and alongside the people—today, tomorrow, and beyond this difficult moment,” Rama said.
