Rama stated that “Kapedani”, now restored, is considered a jewel of Albanian art for all generations

The iconic film *Kapedani* has undergone a 4K restoration, ensuring that this jewel of Albanian art remains preserved for future generations.
The restored film will be screened today at 19:00 at the “Millennium” Cinema, with English subtitles, and tickets will be free of charge.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared excerpts from this film on social media, which remains one of the finest productions of Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re.”
The digital restoration of *Kapedani* was made possible through the “Classics Film Season” project, an initiative by ACE—Association des Cinematheques Européennes, supported by the Creative Europe—MEDIA Program.
*Kapedani* was restored by Dabimus srl—a spin-off of the University of Bari “Aldo Moro,” using original 35mm negative elements scanned in 4K by the Central State Film Archive of Albania.
*Kapedani* stands out significantly from other films of its era, which were constrained by rigid stylistic and thematic limitations. In fact, the film opens with a sequence in which the proud Sulo imagines facing Albania’s enemies, from Ottoman Turks to Nazis, all mixed in the same battlefield.
Imagination and comedy were rarely the focus of socialist art, and this innovative film is considered the tragic pinnacle of a surprising liberalism before the communist government of the time imposed strict restrictions on artistic freedom.
