Restorative interventions on unique objects of our cultural heritage

The National Institute of Cultural Heritage announced that work is underway on the implementation of the project “Enhancement of Cultural Tourism Potential through Interventions at Cultural Heritage Sites in Voskopoja.” This project focuses on conservation and restoration interventions on four unique cultural heritage objects in Voskopoja and Vithkuq: the Church of St. Prodhromos, the Church of St. Mary, the Church of St. Michael, and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul.

The conservation work on the mural paintings, carried out by restorer Adrian Çene and his team, primarily involves the reattachment of preparatory layers, consolidation of the pictorial film, cleaning of deposits, and filling of cracks.

Specialists from the Art Department of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage are closely monitoring the implementation and progress of these interventions. The project is funded by the Albanian Development Fund.
