According to Shkodër Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage the number of visitors to Rozafa Castle have continued with positive progress during the first month of the year, reflecting an increase in the number of local and foreign visitors for 2023.

2,557 visitors were registered in January 2023, while a year ago, the first month of the year recorded 2,339 visitors, or 218 visitors more than during the same period in 2022.

Rozafa Castle is the main tourist attraction of Shkodër. The year we left behind was also successful in terms of visits, recording increasing numbers compared to previous years.

The requalification of the Rozafa castle by added lighting, an investment of the Ministry of Culture, has turned it into a tourist attraction which visitable by local and foreign tourists even during the evening.

Rozafa Castle is a historical monument. In the surrounding walls of the castle, which cover about 9 hectares of land, the constructions of four periods can be clearly distinguished, the Balshaj Domain (XIV century), the Venetian possession (XV century), the Ottoman conquest (XVI-XVII century), and the Bushatlli rule ( XVIII-XIX centuries).

Built during the Illyrian kingdom, the castle’s name embodies the old Legend of Sacrifice.
