Skampa Festival Closes with Lively Comedy

The international festival Skampa Extension 2025 ended last night in Elbasan with the comedy “What the Butler Saw,” directed by Kiço Londo and performed by the Skampa Theatre troupe.

The play by British playwright Joe Orton filled the stage with humor, irony, and unexpected twists. It mixed passion, romantic confusion, scandalous photos, and the abuse of power, creating an absurd and entertaining story.

The premiere marked a stylish close to the 27th edition of the festival. For six days, Elbasan became a lively center of stage art and creativity.

Eleven theatre troupes from different countries performed at the Skampa Theatre and in other cultural spaces across the city, bringing color and a fresh, contemporary artistic spirit.

At the closing ceremony, Elbasan’s mayor, Gledian Llatja, thanked the participants and the audience. He said the city had enjoyed six days full of art, energy, and international cooperation, adding that the festival has become a proud tradition that places Elbasan on the international cultural map.

With “What the Butler Saw,” the Skampa troupe ended a week of laughter and strong emotions. Elbasan now looks forward with enthusiasm to the next edition.
