Ermonela Jaho is one of the six sopranos competing for the prestigious International Opera Awards in 2023. These awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in the field of opera worldwide. Ermonela Jaho had previously won one of these awards in 2016.

The International Opera Awards were first presented in 2012 with the following objectives:

Raise the profile of opera as an art form.

Acknowledge and honor achievements in the world of opera.

Generate funds for the purpose of offering scholarships to aspiring opera talents from various regions of the world.

In the last six years, the International Opera Awards has successfully raised funds for the Opera Awards Foundation, providing support for nearly 100 aspiring artists, including singers, directors, conductors, and others through scholarships.

The judging for the International Opera Awards is conducted by a panel of industry professionals, with John Allison, the editor of “Opera” magazine, serving as the chairman of the jury.
