Switzerland and Council of Europe launch two new anti-corruption initiatives in Albania

Corruption and money laundering remain major challenges. They require constant institutional commitment and strong international cooperation.
In this context, Switzerland, in partnership with the Council of Europe, has launched new support programs. The initiatives aim to strengthen the capacities of Albanian institutions. They focus on fighting corruption and improving the rule of law.
The Swiss Embassy said the new support will reinforce key institutions. These include the Financial Intelligence Agency, the Asset Management Office, and the newly established Asset Recovery Office.
According to the embassy, the two initiatives launched today target corruption in the public sector. They also aim to combat money laundering. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) are funding the programs.
“Fighting corruption must be a political, economic, and social priority,” said Swiss Ambassador Ruth Huber. “It is a shared goal that requires commitment from all.”
