A Quran around 100 years old has been restored at the Central Restoration Laboratory, which is part of the General Directorate of Archives.

The news was provided by the institution itself, which has indicated that this century-old Quran underwent a thorough treatment process comparable to “surgery”.

Among other things, this directorate has indicated that the restoration of holy books requires special care and for this process, brushes, masks, and metal equipment are needed. The book brought by the owner has gone through a series of stages, such as: disinfection, dusting with brushes, washing in basins, deacidification in basins, cleaning from layers, reintegration of lost parts with Japanese paper, restoration of the cover, folding of the pages, and binding of the pages with the cover.

The General Directorate of Archives invites anyone who owns an important document that is deteriorating day by day to bring it to the restorers who will bring it back to life.
