This Saturday afternoon, the “Skënderbeu” Ensemble of Korçë celebrates its 50th anniversary with a special performance at the Andon Zako Çajupi Theater. The gala concert will feature artists who have performed with the ensemble over the years.

The event will be hosted by Rajmonda Koçibelli, returning to her hometown after 34 years to present, just as she did many years ago with the “Skënderbeu” Ensemble.

The “Skënderbeu” Artistic Ensemble was founded in 1974 as a professional ensemble. Initially known as the “October 24 Ensemble,” commemorating Liberation Day, it was later renamed the “Skënderbeu” Ensemble.

Among the first to contribute to the ensemble’s development were Gjergji Pema, Gëzim Kaceli, and Engjëll Tërshana, who significantly enhanced its artistic quality. Over the years, this ensemble has worked to professionally represent the rich folkloric traditions of Korçë, showcasing a wide array of instrumental, choreographic, costume, and ritual practices from the region.
