The artistic season at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB) is opened with Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” and Mozart’s “Requiem

Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and Mozart’s Requiem marked the opening of the artistic season at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB).

These two masterpieces of classical music, composed by two of the most influential figures in Western art music, were brought to the TKOB stage for the Albanian audience at the start of the season. More than 120 TKOB artists participated in the concert, receiving prolonged applause from the music lovers in attendance.

Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy was brought to life at TKOB by pianist Ivo Gjika, alongside soloists Dorina Selimaj, Ivana Hoxha, Marina Kurti, Bledar Domi, Artur Vera, Matias Xheli, the TKOB choir under the direction of maestro Dritan Lumshi, and the symphony orchestra conducted by maestro Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli.

The Choral Fantasy is considered one of Beethoven’s most beautiful compositions, often regarded as a precursor to his Ninth Symphony. Mozart’s Requiem, his final composition, delves into another realm of mystery and spiritual depth.

The concert will also be performed this evening for the capital’s audience on the TKOB stage.
