The Berat Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage features one of the characteristic houses of Berat.

The house of the Qako family in “Gorica” neighborhood, whose architecture and decoration are of special value, not only for the architecture of the apartment in the city of Berat, but for the entire Albanian city houses.

The apartment has wall paintings in the interior, which has gone through three phases of painting at different times. In the painting of the third phase, year 1869 is also marked in Latin numbers.

“No one has come to Berat and was not amazed by the facades and architecture of the city’s cultural monument buildings, but few people know and recognize that priceless values of Cultural Heritage are also hidden inside them,” says Berat Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage on social network.

On July 8, 2008, Berat was registered in the UNESCO List by the World Heritage Committee at the Conference held in Canada. Berat was appreciated as a rare example of typical Ottoman architecture. According to UNESCO, Berat has witnessed the coexistence of different religious and cultural communities throughout the centuries.
