The artistic agenda of the National Opera and Ballet Theater foresees the artistic event with the participation of famous artists on June 22.

Thus, one of the most famous conductors at the international level will come to Tirana to conduct a gala concert. Zubin Mehta, now 87 years old but still with a busy artistic activity, will come down to the Albanian capital together with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.

This is the first time that the internationally famous conductor comes to Albania, but the Albanian public knows him through his conducting of the Vienna Concert and his collaboration with the three tenors: Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras.

Zubin Mehta has become famous for his expressiveness on the podium as well as for his interpretation of the operatic repertoire.

The titles held by Zubin Mehta are many. His career took off when he led the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic at the age of 21 and then went on to replace all the big name conductors.

He became the youngest conductor ever to lead a philharmonic orchestra in North America. Since 1981, he holds the title of “lifetime conductor” from the Philharmonic Orchestra of Israel. Titles such as “honorary conductor” have been given to Zubin Mehta by orchestras of all continents.

The June 22 gala is part of the “Open Balkans” and is related to the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
