At the close of this summer season, the General Directorate of Archives (DPA) visited one of the Ionian pearls to bring the documentary and photographic exhibition “Himara in the Documents of the Central State Archive” to the vacationers.

In collaboration with the Municipality of Himara, the DPA displayed along the city’s promenade a narrative about the unique beauty of the Riviera and the public activities there during the first half of the 20th century.

Through the presentation of these exhibitions, the DPA aims to promote the national documentary heritage and to foster an understanding of the past, inspiring a hopeful future.

Among the selected materials for the exhibition were:

The 1922 request for the creation of the Municipality of Himara, which at the time was a sub-prefecture of Vlorë;

Correspondence between local residents and state authorities regarding general issues;

Requests for the reconstruction of the port’s pier;

Requests for the establishment of a national commercial fleet.
