The Kamje′s Rock, tourist destination for all ages

An opportunity to diversify the tourist life of the Korça region comes from a destination that has recently begun to be frequented. It is about The Kamje′s Rock, in albanian Guri i Kamjes, near Pogradec.
In addition to culinary, cultural and historical tourism, this area also offers such natural beauties, which are worth promoting.
Touching this snowy peak has brought great pleasure to visitors of all ages. One of the older visitors confesses that this activity has made young people leave sofas, coffee and technology and enjoy nature, which is an increasingly better alternative to a sedentary life.
The Director of Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Youth, Ledjan Zeqollari says that The Kamje′s Rock is already part of the tourist map of Pogradec, diversifying its tourist map. “It is also included in the maps and is one of the most important tourist attractions, further developing ecotourism and mountain tourism”, said Zeqollari.
According to the guides, in recent years there is a growing interest in visiting not only natural but also cultural monuments. Tourist operators suggest to extend nature tourism beyond Pogradec, as there are many destinations that are little known by tourists.
The Kamje′s Rock has the status of “monument of nature” since 2002, but it also has historical value since on July 28, 1912, the patriots of the Gora area declared independence, 4 months before the declaration of independence in Vlora. While in the First World War, The Kamje′s Rock served as an observation tower for French soldiers, while Pogradec was divided between the French and Bulgarian camps.
Teacher Ermal Hasimja, part of a group of visitors, says that it is an interesting destination even for those coming from Tirana, as they can accompany it with a visit to Pogradec or Korça, because it is an area that has what to offer, but has not been highlight enough.
