“The King is dying” a grotesque comedy put on stage by Armand Bora

The comedy “The King is dying ” is an absurdist drama by Eugene Ionesco. The director Armand Bora staged it 23 years ago with the actors of the National Theatre. But now he brought it to the stage for the public with a group of young actors.
“The King is dying ” was staged on Saturday and Sunday evenings on the Black Box stage of the University of the Arts. Director Armand Bora appreciates the talent of the young people in these roles.
“A grotesque comedy that I am returning to, after 23 years. Initially at the National Theater with the actors Agim Qiriaqi, Roland Trebicka, Yllka Mujo, Bujas Asqeriu, Rozeta Feri and Anila Mucaj, and last night with a group of young actors who shone on the stage of the “Black Box” of the University of the Arts”, says the director Bora. This comedy years ago was also the representation of the National Theater in an international theater festival, which took place in Cairo.
Director Armand Bora says that Inoecso’s text gives space to convey messages.
“The work was once staged at the National Theater as well as being a representative of theater as a comedy and at an international theater festival in Cairo, Egypt, where the actor Roland Trebicka was nominated for the “Best Actor of the Festival” award. Undoubtedly, 23 years ago I had other approaches to that text. Eugene Ionecso is a very dear author to me. I dealt a lot with this author and I found it worthwhile to bring it back, because it is an engaging text, a political one, which gives you a hand and space to express messages about current events”, says the well-known director Armand Bora.
The actors performing in this comedy are Igli Fusha, Xhoana Karaj, Kristina Boçe, Astiano Shehaj, Sidorela Koça and Livion Aliaj. Director Armand Bora says that this is the fourth premiere, working with a group of young people.
“With these actors, I brought three theater productions before, with the idea of creating a profile of theatrical interpretation, of my polyphonic theater principles, targeting the stimulation of the new generation of actors, creating them the opportunity to enter the art market and it has turned out to be really positive,” says director Bora.
