Conservation interventions and restoration have made it possible to bring this work of art out of the degradation phase, continuing to enable its display as part of the rich fund of cultural heritage of Kolë Idromeno.
Saint Michael, or as it is known in Albania ‘Shën Mëhilli’, is one of the archangels of Christianity.
In biblical interpretation he is known as the angel who cast out Lucifer. Since the century IV the Church recognized him as an angel of healing, and then over time as a protector against the forces of evil. He is always depicted in biblical scenes with a scale or a sword in hand killing the devil.
