The stories of Albanians who saved Jews are given a dedicated place of remembrance

The stories of Albanians who saved Jews during the dark years of the Holocaust will be given a dedicated place of remembrance, which is the Albanian Jewish Museum. The establishment of this museum is supported by the Albanian-American Development Foundation, with the aim of creating a contemporary institution that will testify to a unique history of coexistence, trust, and hope between Albanians and Jews, particularly during the years of World War II.

The Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) announced that the tender procedures have been launched, and qualified companies are invited to apply for the construction of the Albanian Jewish Museum in Vlorë.

According to AADF, this is a contemporary project that will harmonize with the city’s historical center.

The Albanian Jewish Museum in Vlorë will showcase a unique story dedicated to the coexistence of Jews and Albanians over time, which is expected to become a cultural magnet for the historical area in Vlorë.

With the construction of this museum, a new standard for museums in Albania will be set, supporting the creation of a contemporary museum, the only one of its kind in Albania and the region, in terms of its mission, concept, architecture, management, governance, exhibition model, storytelling, partnerships, and community engagement.
