The Wiretapped,’ a documentary about Ukraine, is being screened at the Albanian Parliament

A film from the International Human Rights Film Festival in Albania was shown today at the Albanian Parliament as part of the Forum for Ukraine. The documentary “Intercepted” (Të përgjuarit) was selected for this event.

“Intercepted,” a 2024 production, captures the destruction wrought upon Ukraine by the ongoing conflict through extended visual sequences. It presents the human side of the war through soldiers’ phone calls with their families, creating a juxtaposition of sound and imagery that reveals a parallel world.

Prior to the screening, remarks were made by festival executive director Kujtim Çashku and Prof. Theodore S. Orlin, the festival’s honorary president.

Çashku shared his experience in Kyiv, noting, “Observing the many drones and missiles over just two hours made me realize they were striking at Europe’s heart. We should never think that the fire burning in someone else’s home won’t reach our own.”

Prof. Orlin described the situation in Ukraine as a 21st-century tragedy, potentially one of the most significant events of this era. He cautioned that Ukraine’s defeat would represent a severe blow to the international order we have worked so hard to build.

“This is not the first film we’ve seen about Ukraine, but this time, our concern is particularly for the Ukrainian people,” Orlin concluded.
