Three dance worlds dazzle Tirana audiences

Audiences at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet experienced three different dance worlds in one show over the weekend.

First, “Falling Angels” by master choreographer Jiří Kylián presented the tension between discipline and freedom. The piece used minimalist movements and powerful rhythms to explore the essence of humanity. Jiří Kylián, a world-renowned Czech choreographer, has created around 100 works, including famous ballets like “Petite Mort” and “Sinfonietta,” performed by dance companies worldwide. His choreography blends classical ballet with modern movement and examines emotions and human relationships.

Next, “Troy Game” by Robert North energized the stage with humor, athleticism, and Brazilian rhythms. The performance challenged traditional ideas of masculinity while keeping elegance at the core.

Finally, “Radiant 40°” by Edi Blloshmi closed the evening with poetic stage imagery. The piece intertwined memory, invisible connections, and transformation, creating a new language of dance.

Moreover, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, called the evening unforgettable. He emphasized that dance became a passport for traveling between cultures, emotions, and worlds beyond words.

The show formed part of the International Dance Festival of Tirana (IDFT). Since it began, the festival has enlivened the city’s cultural life and continues until 25 October. Indeed, IDFT functions not only as a festival but also as a platform for creativity, exchange, and connection.
