The Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) announced that submissions for its 23rd edition remain open. Filmmakers interested in participating have until May 21, 2025, to apply.

TIFF is accredited as a qualifying festival by AMPAS—the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—and the European Film Academy. It can nominate the Best Short Film, which will be eligible for the 2026 Oscars, as well as the Best European Short Film for the 2025 European Film Awards.

Student films officially selected at TIFF qualify to compete for the Student Academy Awards (SAA).

The 23rd edition of TIFF will be held from September 21 to 27, 2025. Films must have been completed after January 2024 to be eligible for selection. Additionally, all competing films must premiere in Albania.

Submissions are also open for the 4th edition of the TIFF 2025 Screenplay Competition, which accepts original live-action screenplays, animated short films, and other short scripts of any genre (up to 20 pages) via the online platform FilmFreeway.
