Tirana Art Gallery Unveils ‘Paradis Artificiel’ by Artist Duo

Tirana Art Gallery opened the exhibition “Paradis Artificiel” (Artificial Paradise) by the artist duo Flutura Preka and Besnik Haxhillari, known as The Two Gullivers.
The exhibition features a series of colored pencil drawings. It is part of a wider project called “Picturing Performance.” The project explores visual images and material traces from performances the artists have created since the late 1990s.
Preka and Haxhillari have worked together since 1998. They focus on performance art within an interdisciplinary context.
In the curatorial note published by the gallery, the artists reactivate memory, image, and visual traces of past performances. They present these through drawings that capture action and movement. Often, they use artificial flowers that appear fresh and natural due to plastic treatment.
The concept also includes drawings of natural flowers. These images, according to the artists, suggest an unreachable and artificial paradise.
The idea of Gulliver, inspired by Jonathan Swift’s novel, reflects journeys, migration, and displacement. These themes shape much of their creative work.
