Tirana Gate 2025 opens with the theme “The Mediterranean and Europe in Contemporary Literature”

Tirana Gate 2025 opened today in Tirana. The festival gathered young and established writers from across the region. Now in its 11th edition, it runs from October 8 to 10 with the theme “The Mediterranean and Europe in Contemporary Literature.”
The event started ten years ago as a youth writing contest. It has grown into an international meeting point for authors and readers. This year, poets from Palestine join voices with writers from Albania, Kosovo, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Serbia, and Montenegro.
Festival director Irena Toçi said organizers chose the Mediterranean to reflect its shared history and culture. “The Mediterranean is where cultures meet and collide — an open stage where generations have performed the drama of life,” she said.
For three days, the Artistic Lyceum of Tirana hosts readings, panels, and live discussions. Writers share their work, exchange ideas, and connect with new audiences. The festival celebrates creativity, dialogue, and the power of literature to unite people across borders.
