Tirana Mosaic, an exhibition center of cultural assets displayed through modern technologies

Albanian Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation shared on social networks pictures from the work site for the Mosaic of Tirana, where, as Gonxhja said, the works are moving at a fast pace.
The mosaic of Tirana will be a center where the closed mosaics of the ancient and late antiquity found in the most important sites such as Apollonia, Butrint, Bylis, Durrës, Elbasan, and many others will be displayed for the public.
“This excellent initiative will permit the citizens to enjoy the country’s cultural wealth through modern technologies, making it accessible to a wide range of the public,” wrote Minister Blendi Gonxhja.
Such mosaics are rarely opened to the public as they are at risk from atmospheric conditions.
In the future, local and foreign visitors will have the opportunity to simultaneously see the oldest archaeological findings in the capital, and also find information about other mosaics throughout Albania. The Mosaic of Tirana will offer a defined annual schedule for the public and the many tourists.
The mosaic of Tirana is thought to have been part of a rural type dwelling (villa rustica) built in the 1st century AD. The mosaic contains geometric and floral motifs but also typical motifs of early Christianity, such as stylized braids, fish rosettes.
