The Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, visited the reconstruction site of the National Gallery of Arts today. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Italy to Albania, Marco Alberti, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Alessandro Ruggera, and representatives from MAXXI – the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome.

During the visit, the delegation observed the ongoing works aimed at improving infrastructure, creating new exhibition spaces, enhancing conservation facilities, and establishing specialized restoration laboratories.

This site visit marks a significant step toward building a sustainable professional and institutional dialogue. It also strengthens the shared vision for a contemporary and inclusive approach to heritage preservation and artistic development in Albania.

Minister Gonxhja emphasized the importance of collaboration with prestigious institutions like MAXXI. “This partnership will help ensure international standards as we transform the National Museum of Fine Arts into an open, dynamic, and accessible cultural center,” he stated on social media.

Officials from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also joined the visit.
