The book “Traces of the Postal Service in Albanian Territories 1800–1944” by Fadil Smajlaj was promoted at the “Thimi Mitko” Library in Korça.

Smajlaj served for 35 years with the Albanian Post and helped establish the Postal Service of Kosova. In this publication, he presents a detailed history of postal activity across Albanian territories, based on archival documents.

“I have presented a historical, economic, and political account of the Albanian Post from 1800 to 1944. It was a challenging period, but I studied it thoroughly, analyzed it, and supported it with documents, not opinions. I recorded no event without three main sources,” said Smajlaj.

The event brought together representatives of the Albanian Post, the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, as well as relatives and supporters of the author.

With his deep experience in postal services, Smajlaj offers a rich analysis drawn from different phases of the system’s evolution.

This book contributes meaningfully to the study of Albanian history. It reminds readers that postal services have always played a role beyond the simple delivery of letters.
