Travelers to Albania exempt from import duties on personal goods within limits

Travelers entering Albania do not pay import duties on goods in their personal luggage, as long as they are not for commercial purposes.
The General Directorate of Customs explains that this exemption covers items for personal use or gifts, depending on the type and quantity.
For travelers crossing by land, the duty-free limit is €300 per person. For those arriving by air or sea, the limit is €430 per person. Children under 15 have a €150 allowance each.
If travelers carry non-commercial goods exceeding the duty-free limit, they must declare them using the “simplified declaration” procedure. This ensures compliance with customs rules and proper import regulation.
This procedure makes border crossing easier for travelers. It also protects the domestic market and prevents illegal imports.
