“Ukraine: A war crime”, an exhibition of 50 photos at COD

On the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) in cooperation with the Open Society Foundations, bring for the first time to Albania, 50 photos from the war front.

“Ukraine: A War Crime” is a photo exhibition that conveys to the public the shocking evidence of Russian aggression against Ukraine, seen under the magnifying glass of photo-reporters from around the world who documented it during the first year.

The exhibition is also accompanied by the book with the same title published by FotoEvidence with testimonies from 93 photo-reporters from 29 different countries, evidencing the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

After a worldwide open call, this group received more than 6,000 photos from 120 photographers who had documented the war.

Photos and reports bring moments of conflict, humanitarian disaster and war crimes investigations. It reveals not only the displacement of millions of people in a chilling reality, but also the horrific stories of destruction and casualties that will long remain in the collective memory of that nation, which emerge from field experience in a war zone, where the first to step on the liberated territories were the photo-reporters of “FotoEvidence”.

“Ukraine: A War Crime” photo-exhibition serves as a historical document of the first year of this war, while book digs deep into the news to tell the intimate stories of survivors and witnesses of atrocities.

The exhibition and book includes images on all aspects of the war, from all over Ukraine, to draw a comprehensive picture of the destruction, the number of civilian victims of the war and the crimes committed on Ukrainian soil.

The exhibition will be open to the public from February 22 to March 23, 2024.
