US embassy says protection of Americans is top priority, confirms cooperation with Albanian authorities

TIRANA, April 2 – The United States embassy in Tirana said the protection of American citizens remains the top priority of the Trump administration. The statement came a day after a warning about potential threats from Iran-linked groups targeting United States-related entities, including in Albania.
In an exclusive response to Albanian Radio and Television, the embassy said it is working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation. It added that both sides aim to mitigate potential security risks. The embassy also praised its strong cooperation with the Albanian government on security matters.
“The Trump administration has no higher priority than the safety and protection of Americans. We are working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation and mitigate security risks. The United States embassy values its close cooperation with the Government of Albania, which has shown continued commitment to ensuring the safety of American citizens and all residents in Albania. We will provide more information when available,” the embassy said.
The embassy issued the statement after a recent security alert to American citizens in Albania and worldwide. The alert warned of increased risks linked to Iran-backed groups amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. It said such groups may target United States-affiliated entities and members of the Iranian opposition present in Albania.
The latest response underlines ongoing coordination between Washington and Tirana on security issues. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely while maintaining preventive measures to ensure public safety.
