TIRANA, February 18 – Albania is emerging as a top destination for US tourists in 2026. Visitors from the United States are arriving in record numbers, reshaping the country’s tourism sector and raising its profile in Europe.

Albania’s beaches, cultural sites, and affordability attract American travelers. Popular destinations include the Albanian Riviera, coastal towns like Dhermi, Jala, and Ksamil, Tirana, and UNESCO sites Berat and Gjirokastër.

Tourism numbers continue to grow. In 2024, Albania welcomed 11.7 million tourists, including over 306,000 from the Americas. In 2025, arrivals are expected to exceed 12.5 million, a 7% increase. Foreign visitors spent an estimated €5 billion in 2024, with US tourists contributing significantly.

Improved connectivity supports this growth. Air Transat will launch direct flights from Toronto to Tirana in June 2026. Ryanair and Wizz Air are expanding routes from major European hubs.

Visa-free access for US citizens for up to one year further boosts appeal. The government is investing in tourism infrastructure and services. With these measures, Albania is set to attract more US tourists and strengthen its position among Europe’s must-visit destinations.
