Vlora Hosts International Shakespeare Theater Festival from November 9-13

The upcoming international theater festival “Shakespeare in Vlora” will transform the coastal city into a stage for some of William Shakespeare’s most acclaimed works. Known as one of history’s greatest playwrights, poets, and storytellers, Shakespeare’s legacy has captivated audiences since his 16th-century beginnings in Britain.
The festival opens on November 9 with Measure for Measure, directed by Altin Basha and performed by actors from Gjakova and Prizren. The following evening, the Faculty of Performing Arts at the University of Arts in Tirana will present Shakespearean Love.
The festival will continue with Shakespeare’s Sonnets, performed by the “Petro Marko” theater company of Vlora under the direction of celebrated director Kristaq Skrami. Audiences can also look forward to Twelfth Night by Tirana’s Metropol Theater on November 12, and on November 13, Italy’s Teatro Pubblico Pugliese-Bari will conclude the program with The Lost King.
This artistic event is supported by the Municipality of Vlora, the “Shakespeare Center,” and the “Petro Marko” Theater.
