Workshops and Stories Bring Albania’s Past to Life for Young Minds

Children visit the National Museum of Surveillance, the “House of Leaves,” regularly. These educational visits are often organized by schools or summer camps.
To further support children’s learning, the museum recently hosted a workshop and a special didactic program designed for young visitors.
Moreover, the “House of Leaves” has created a unique “Family Art Guide.” This interactive journey invites children and families to explore the museum together, understand Albania’s dictatorship era, and reflect on the importance of human rights.
At the heart of this project stands MIA, a young girl from today. She travels back to the year 1983, where she meets two very different peers:
– Arbër, scared but aware.
– Besnik, a loyal supporter of the regime, shaped by propaganda.
Through games, animated videos, guided questions, and an outdoor reflection path, young visitors uncover the history, the propaganda, and the victims of the regime.
Step by step, they begin to understand how essential human rights remain—even today.
This creative project for children will launch at the House of Leaves in October 2025. It is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation and is suitable for children aged 6 and above.
