Young Albanian scientists will soon study in Singapore

Soon, young Albanian scientists will be able to study at higher levels at the National University of Singapore, at the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials.
That was the statement issued by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, in a meeting with the winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010, Kostya Novoselov, who works at the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials. They discussed the possibility of creating PhD scholarships for young Albanian scientists at the Institute.
“I am happy that Tirana has become a “hub” for nanotechnology and activities where science is discussed. Thank you for coming from Singapore to Tirana and I really hope that the conversation we started to have 4-5 PhD scholarships for young Albanian scientists at the Institute in Singapore will be realized as soon as possible, and that we will also have some high-caliber scientists, but they would not lack a good mentor, such as yourself, nor a suitable institute where they can carry out their experiments”, said Mr. Veliaj.

The winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010, Kostya Novoselov expressed his desire to invite young Albanian scientists to see the laboratory of the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials. “I hope to establish our cooperation with young Albanians for nanotechnology. I am very happy to give the opportunity to the most talented Albanian students to welcome them to my laboratory and I hope they will come back here again and bring their knowledge in Albania” said Novoselov.

Each year, the National University of Singapore welcomes up to 26,000 students from around the world. Representatives of different nationalities, cultures and religions study for a high-quality education that meets international standards and a diploma cited throughout the world, which paves the way for for university graduates to successfully find employment in enterprises of any country.
