The 23rd edition of the Book Fair in Ulqin is a major cultural event held annually in the town in Montenegro.

The opening ceremony was attended by Genci Nimanbegu, Mayor of Ulqin; Tamara Vujovic, Montenegro’s Minister of Culture and Media; Fatmir Gjeka, Minister for Human Rights and Minorities; Alda Bardhyli, Director of the National Library and Reading Center of Albania; and Irena Toçi, Director of the Institute of Book and Promotion of Albania.

Featuring around 50 publishers from Montenegro, Albania, Kosova, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other regions, the fair will host various activities, including meetings with prominent authors and award ceremonies. The event aims to promote literature and culture, encourage reading, and enhance cultural exchange among writers, publishers, and readers.

“Ulqin is a city rich in traditions and diverse ethnic and religious cultures, where Albanians, Montenegrins, Serbs, Bosniaks, and Roma live in harmony. Returning to Ulqin for this significant cultural event, which has become a vital space for Albanian publishers, authors, and readers, is always a rewarding experience,” says Albanian National Library and Reading Center.
