Kosovo resumes the re-vaccination process

Kosovo has resumed its coronavirus vaccination campaign, following the receipt of 4,680 Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines on 4 May. The vaccination process is continuing in Prishtina. It was pledged for another 100 thousand Pfizer vaccines to arrive in Kosovo in June.
The Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Union, Oliver Varhelyi is staying today in Kosovo, where he has seen from close the vaccination process in Pristina. Varhelyi stressed that it was a difficult task to get the vaccines, but they have already arrived.
He added that the EU is bringing about 600,010,000 vaccines to the entire Western Balkans. The EU Commissioner further stressed that they have stayed close to Kosovo throughout the pandemic.
The European Commissioner has promised to work with Prime Minister Albin Kurti to provide even more vaccines. Whereas, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti has expressed optimism that until the summer season the endangered people in the country will be vaccinated. The Ministry of Health of Kosovo announced on Tuesday that these doses will be used for vaccination of health workers, who could not be vaccinated in the first phase of vaccination, for health reasons.
Kosovo started the vaccination process at the end of March, with 24,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, provided by the World Health Organization Covax program.
In total, Kosovo has registered 105,711 positive cases with COVID-19. Of these, 2,191 have died and 96,012 have recovered.
