National Albanian Language Competition Kicks Off with 11,000 Students from Across the Country

National Albanian Language Competition has officially begun in 9-year schools across the country, with more than 11,000 students participating. This year’s theme is “The Albanian Language and Civic Communication in the Digital Age”.

Now in its third year, the competition follows a preparatory phase to familiarize students with the set criteria. Two teams of five students each will compete against one another.

“To organize the competition, we built on the experience from last year. We’ve created a work plan divided into the respective phases of the competition. The process has involved not just class time but also additional preparation, ensuring that students can demonstrate their knowledge of the Albanian language, how well they apply it, and their fluency in speaking it. The students allowed us to select the best team from both classes,” explained Afërdita Avdiko, a teacher at the “Kosova” 9-year school.

Teacher Afërdita elaborated on the student selection process leading up to this initial phase.

“We worked hard on this, alongside my students. We were also supported by other Albanian language teachers, who have always been there for us. Working with talented students happens daily in the classroom, and it’s carefully planned in the teacher’s daily lessons. This time, we gave every student a chance to participate, and those who excelled in the competition’s required categories were selected,” said teacher Afërdita.

In addition to their language skills, students will also have the chance to showcase their technological abilities.

A representative from the Local Educational Office is observing the competition, which will continue until the selection of two finalist teams competing for first place.

This competition, aimed at protecting and promoting the Albanian language, engages over 900 schools, offering students a platform to test their linguistic knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills.
