President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama have conveyed their best wishes to citizens on the occasion of Summer Day.

President Begaj shared a Facebook post featuring a photo of ballokume, the traditional sweet of the holiday, writing: “Happy Summer Day with this basket prepared by the housewives of Elbasan, the Albanian capital of this celebration!”

Prime Minister Rama extended his greetings through a video on social media, simply stating: “Good morning and Happy Summer Day!”

Once a small local tradition, Summer Day has grown into one of the country’s most widely celebrated holidays. On this special occasion, Elbasan becomes the center of festivities, hosting a variety of activities, from nature excursions to festive family lunches, where ballokume is a staple. Meanwhile, celebrations also take place in Tirana and other cities across the country.
