March 7: President Begaj: Only with Quality Education Can We Build a Prosperous and Sustainable Future

Today, President Bajram Begaj hosted a special reception to honor retired teachers who have served across Albania over the years, shaping generations in various regions of the country.

The Head of State celebrated Teacher’s Day with them, coinciding with the opening of the first Albanian school. He shared his personal reflections on how teachers impacted his own life, while also addressing young teachers about the challenges Albanian society faces today.

President Begaj extended his congratulations on March 7, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and contributions that Albanian teachers have made in preparing and shaping generations by imparting knowledge, education, and inspiration to help students realize their dreams.

He also acknowledged the difficulties and sacrifices teachers have faced over the years, thanking them, on behalf of every student, for their commitment to the noble mission of teaching, their patience, kindness, and tireless dedication.

“This beautiful celebration, in honor of these noble individuals who have always served as models of wisdom and dedication, should also be a day of reflection on our commitment to valuing and supporting teachers in society,” President Begaj said. “A society that values its teachers is a conscious society, for only through the quality education of generations can we build a prosperous and sustainable future“.

He added that “March 7 reminds us of the significant sacrifices we have made throughout history to establish learning institutions, educate generations, and preserve the beautiful Albanian language“.

The President described this day as a moment to continuously remember the undeniable impact teachers have on each individual, on society, and on the future of future generations.

Reflecting on today’s reality and technological advancements, the President recognized this as a new opportunity for learning. However, he emphasized that nothing can replace the human interaction between students and teachers.

“A computer can provide information, but it cannot teach life values, citizenship, or living in a community. An algorithm can analyze data, but it cannot inspire a child to dream. Teachers are and will remain the cornerstone of education. They bridge knowledge and character development, guide the correct use of modern technology, foster personal growth, and inspire change in the world,” Begaj said.

Addressing the new challenges facing society, the President stressed that teachers remain role models, even though teaching today is a significant challenge, as children grow up in a world filled with abundant, sometimes misleading, information, especially through social media, which can have harmful effects.

In this context, the President advised teachers to take responsibility in their important mission, serving future generations and the country, while encouraging them to strengthen the foundations of quality education.

“Albania,” President Begaj emphasized, “needs teachers who do more than assign grades. We need those who inspire knowledge, dreams, and help build a society with critical thinking, strong democratic values, and patriotism. We must be a nation that reads, a nation that studies, a nation that moves forward with the strength of the mind and a thirst for knowledge. Teachers are on the frontlines of this mission“.

“We cannot have a strong Albania without quality education, and we cannot have quality education without teachers who are valued, supported, properly treated, and well-trained. If we want a better future, we must start with those who contribute to the educated citizens of tomorrow: our teachers,” the Head of State concluded, wishing all teachers a happy March 7.
