Tirana Hosts Rare Marubi Photography Exhibition, Celebrating 100 Years of Artistic Legacy

The Art Gallery of Tirana presents the exhibition “The Marubi Dynasty – A Hundred Years of the Albanian Photography Studio,” one of the rare and emotionally vivid exhibitions stemming from the black-and-white works of the “Marubi” family.
Blendi Gonxhja, the Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, who visited the exhibition this evening, described it as “a unique journey through the history of Albania.”
“A unique journey through the history of Albania, expertly captured by the lens of the Marubi family, which brings to light a century of memories, traditions, and photographic art,” he said.
In the exhibition “The Marubi Dynasty – A Hundred Years of the Albanian Photography Studio,” extraordinary photographs from the collections of three generations of the Marubi Dynasty photographers—Pietro, Kel, and Gegë Marubi—are on display. These images, drawn from archives (1865-1959), include over 150,000 negative glass plates from the “Marubi” National Museum in Shkodër.
These images were previously exhibited in 2016 at the FOAM Photography Museum in Amsterdam and in 2019 at the National Museum of Photography “Marubi.”
